Feed Management Platforms for AI Shopping Agents Compared by What They Document
Six feed management platforms compared on what they document for ChatGPT and Perplexity shopping feeds: delivery route, refresh rate, catalog limits and published price.
On this page
The best feed management platforms for AI shopping agents, across ChatGPT and Perplexity commerce, are the ones that put in writing how your file reaches each surface, how often it refreshes and what that costs. On October 7, 2026 we read the documentation and pricing pages of six vendors (Productsup, Feedoptimise, GoDataFeed, DataFeedWatch, Channable and Feedonomics) and recorded what each one states. Where a page was silent, the table below says "not documented" and stops there. We ran no hands-on tests and borrowed nothing from vendor-written rankings, so treat this as a shortlist aid assembled from public pages.
What a feed platform can and cannot do for agent shopping
An AI agent shopping product feed management platform does three jobs: it maps your catalog to each surface's specification, delivers the file on a schedule, and sets the fields that decide where a product may appear. Access to the surface is a separate step, taken by the merchant with OpenAI or Perplexity directly.
OpenAI puts the gate in one sentence: "Onboarding product feeds in ChatGPT is currently available to approved partners." The same page recommends a rhythm: "It is generally recommended to provide the entire feed once a day via file upload, and then send updates throughout the day via the API." The file upload guide from OpenAI supplies the mechanics. Feeds are pushed over SFTP as full snapshots at least daily, parquet is preferred with compressed JSONL, CSV and TSV also supported, and "Up to 500k items per shard is recommended; target shard files under ~500MB". A product missing from a snapshot stays on record for up to 14 days before it expires.
Perplexity is thinner on paper. Perplexity announced its Merchant Program on November 18, 2024, describing it as free for merchants and aimed at large retailers, with a signup form. We found no public feed specification on the Perplexity pages we searched, so the current detail comes from feed vendors. A GoDataFeed help article updated August 20, 2026 warns: "You must be accepted into the Perplexity Merchant Program before your feed data can be used." Productsup is candid about the state of things: "Perplexity's feed documentation is currently decentralized and may be evolving."
What each platform documents for ChatGPT and Perplexity
Feed management platforms for AI assistants and agentic commerce all list ChatGPT as a destination in our sample of six (DataFeedWatch calls it "Shopping GPT"), and they differ in how much of the delivery route they write down. On the pages we read, two of the six (Productsup and Feedoptimise) document how the product feed reaches OpenAI, and two more (GoDataFeed and Channable) document an SFTP push for the separate ChatGPT Ads route, set up in OpenAI's Ads Manager. Each cell records what the vendor's own pages said on the day we read them, and "not documented" means absent from those pages, which are listed under Sources.
| Platform | ChatGPT export | Perplexity export | Refresh | Catalog size | Published price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Productsup | "OpenAI Product Feed New" export over SFTP; CSV by default, which needs OpenAI pre-approval | SFTP export for "NA retailers"; CSV only out of the box | Not documented on the export pages | Not documented | Quote only |
| Feedoptimise | Hosted feed URL or SFTP; sets the search, checkout and ads eligibility flags per item | Shown as a channel logo; setup not documented | "on schedule"; interval not documented | Plans up to 5 million items per feed or source | From $59 a month |
| GoDataFeed | SFTP push to ChatGPT Ads, set up in Ads Manager, per a GoDataFeed help article that describes those feeds as a beta eligible for ads only; shopping feed delivery not documented | Template with pull URL, FTP or SFTP output | 1 to 24 daily syncs by plan | 1,000 to 40,000 SKUs by plan; $5 per additional 1,000 up to 50K | $39 to $399 a month |
| DataFeedWatch | Pre-created template for "Shopping GPT"; delivery method not documented | Pre-created template; delivery method not documented | 1 to 5 syncs a day by plan | 1,000 to 100,000 SKUs by plan | $64 to $239 a month; Enterprise is custom |
| Channable | "ChatGPT Commerce (OpenAI)" channel; a Channable help article documents an SFTP upload to OpenAI's Ads Manager for product ads; shopping feed delivery not documented | Not documented | States that it automates updates every 15 minutes | Not documented | Not verified; the pricing page did not load for us |
| Feedonomics | Named as an AI channel; setup not documented | Named as an AI channel; setup not documented | "Near-real-time syncs"; no interval given | Not documented | Quote only |
Two rows need context. Channable announced its ChatGPT channel in a changelog entry dated October 3, 2025, which said merchants could prepare the feed but could not yet upload it to OpenAI. Its landing page still reads: "Currently for US-based Shopify & Etsy stores. Other merchants can join the waitlist and use Channable to prep their feed while waiting." A later Channable changelog entry, dated August 26, 2026, says the ChatGPT Commerce channel can send a product catalog to OpenAI's Ads Manager, with SFTP credentials generated there. The DataFeedWatch announcement shows no publication date and says the company "now supports product feeds for Perplexity and Shopping GPT", while its pricing page names neither surface.
The vendor pages also describe OpenAI differently from one another, which is a good reason to keep OpenAI's documentation open during a demo. Productsup writes that "OpenAI has sunset the API method for main product feed onboarding until at least late 2026." OpenAI's Get Started page lists file upload or API as integration methods. Channable states: "OpenAI supports updates every 15 minutes, and Channable automates this so your feed is always fresh and trustworthy." OpenAI's file upload guide recommends snapshots at least daily. Feedoptimise describes delivery by hosted feed URL or SFTP, and the file upload guide names SFTP alone. Each statement may hold for a route we did not read (the guide points to a separate Ads Manager route), so ask the vendor which route its export uses.
Refresh rates and catalog counting separate the plans
Published refresh rates vary more than published prices do. DataFeedWatch lists one sync a day on its Shop plan, two on Merchant and five on Agency. The plan builder on the GoDataFeed pricing page lists 1 daily sync on Lite, 4 on Plus, 16 on Pro and 24 on Premium. Productsup publishes no figures and names "Data sync frequency (per hour/day)" among the inputs to its quote. Of the pages we read, Channable's is the only one that states an interval shorter than a day for OpenAI, and it names no mechanism.
Catalog size needs the same care, because vendors count differently. DataFeedWatch counts variants, giving a product with 5 color variants as 5 SKUs. Feedoptimise counts parents: "When variants can be grouped (which all of our native apps do by default), items are counted at the parent level." On the surface side, OpenAI recommends up to 500k items per shard, and none of the vendor pages we read mentions sharding, so a merchant above that size should ask how the export splits its files.
A hypothetical shortlist at 4,500 SKUs
The best feed management tools for agentic commerce and ChatGPT shopping are easier to pick once one concrete catalog has been priced. This example is hypothetical. Its assumptions: 4,500 variant-level SKUs, one store, three feeds (Google Shopping, ChatGPT and Perplexity), a target of four refreshes a day, and monthly list prices as displayed on October 7, 2026, before add-ons, taxes or annual discounts.
| Platform | Plan that fits | Listed price | Refresh on that plan | Open question |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DataFeedWatch | Merchant: 5k SKUs, 10 feeds | $84 a month | 2 syncs a day | Four a day needs Agency, which lists 5 at $239 |
| GoDataFeed | Plus: 5,000 SKUs, 4 PPC feeds | $99 a month | 4 daily syncs | Whether the AI templates count as PPC feeds is not documented; the ChatGPT Ads help article lists Daily, Weekly, Biweekly or Monthly submission |
| Feedoptimise | Medium: up to 5,000 items per feed or source | $100 a month: a $44 retainer plus $14 each for one source and three feeds | Interval not documented | Parent-level counting could fit a smaller tier |
| Productsup, Feedonomics | By quote | Not published | Ask for it in writing | Which inputs move the quote |
The three published prices sit within $16 of each other, which leaves refresh rate, delivery route and catalog counting to settle the choice. The two quote-only vendors price on other inputs. Feedonomics says: "Pricing varies by SKU count, channel type, number of channels, and service level, and we never take a percentage of revenue." Channable is absent from the example because its pricing page did not load for us.
Questions to put to a vendor before signing
- Which route does the ChatGPT export use (SFTP file upload, the API or Ads Manager), and who holds the credentials OpenAI issues?
- What refresh interval does my plan give that specific export?
- Do the ChatGPT and Perplexity feeds count against my feed or channel allotment?
- Are variants counted as items, and how does the export split a catalog above OpenAI's recommended shard size?
- What can be built and validated while an application is pending? GoDataFeed is direct about the limit of its role: "GoDataFeed does not review, approve, or expedite these applications, and approval timelines are set by Perplexity."
A clean feed, once the surface has approved you, makes products eligible to appear. Whether assistants then recommend them is a separate measurement, best tracked with a fixed prompt set and reported as AI share of voice, with the failure modes of prompt-based tracking kept in view. Feeds also cover only the shopping surfaces; answers built from crawled pages follow the practices in our guide on how to get cited by ChatGPT. When the feed tool is one line in a larger plan, our breakdown of what an AI visibility program costs gives it context.
