The Client

The ASU+GSV Summit is the defining annual summit where education, talent, and venture capital converge. Co-hosted by Arizona State University and GSV, the flagship event brings those three worlds into one room once a year, and that convergence is what earns the gathering its standing.

For its flagship event, the ASU+GSV Summit engaged us to spearhead growth strategy across the full arc of ticket sales: full-funnel paid acquisition, audience strategy, and conversion optimization. The program treated the summit the way its audience treats it, as the essential convening of the year, and built a demand engine to match. Every dollar of media, every segment, and every step of the purchase path pointed at one outcome: a room filled to capacity.

The Challenge

Three Audiences, One Room

A summit that convenes education, talent, and venture capital sells to three constituencies at once, and each walks through the door for a different reason. An educator weighs the agenda, a talent leader weighs the network, and an investor weighs the deal flow, yet every one of them buys the same ticket. Because the event is annual, demand has to be built, captured, and converted inside a single window. The ambition was explicit from the start: the defining summit in its category should sell out, and the growth program had to be precise enough to make that happen.

The Approach

An Engine Built to Converge

The engine mirrored the summit itself: three audiences, one destination. Audience strategy came first: we defined the segments inside education, talent, and capital, then established what would move each of them from first touch to purchase. Full-funnel paid acquisition carried those segments down the journey, with targeting and messaging tuned to each constituency's reason for attending. Conversion optimization closed the distance between interest and a completed ticket purchase, tightening the path week over week. As performance data accumulated, budget followed the strongest signals, so efficiency improved even as spend and volume scaled toward the sellout.

01
Segment the Convergence

We defined distinct audience segments across education, talent, and venture capital, each with its own reason to buy a ticket.

02
Build the Funnel

Full-funnel paid acquisition carried each segment from first awareness of the summit to active intent to attend.

03
Optimize the Purchase Path

Conversion optimization removed friction between interest and checkout, so more of the demand we created became completed ticket purchases.

04
Scale on Signal

Budget moved continuously toward the segments and campaigns with the strongest returns, compounding efficiency as spend grew.

The Results

Sold to the Last Seat

Efficiency and scale arrived together. With targeting, messaging, and the purchase path tuned segment by segment, campaigns returned up to 27x ROAS at their peak, and the funnel kept converting as budget grew: 15,000 tickets sold. Demand built early and captured continuously did what a defining event should do. The summit sold out. The numbers told one story, and the room told the other, filled with the converging audiences the campaigns were built to reach.

When education meets capital, the room matters. We filled it to the last seat.
